1. Clean the surface
Ensure the area to be treated is free from dirt, grease, debris and previous finishes. Do not apply to wood that is wet and avoid cleaning the surface with white spirit. For the best finish, a clean, well sanded surface will always yield the best results.

2. Application
Shake the bottle well before use, ensuring is thoroughly mixed. Apply the product liberally along the grain with a clean, dry brush. This product is suitable to use with a spray application. Brushes can be cleaned with water after use.

To achieve the optimum shade on pine or light hardwoods:

- Antique Stripped Pine, Brown Mahogany, Golden Pine, Light Oak, Light Rosewood & Medium Oak generally works best as a single coat, further coats will deepen the shade if required

- Dark Pine, Dark Walnut & Golden Oak generally needs 1-2 coats

- Black Ebony, English Oak, French Oak & Very Red Mahogany generally needs between 2-3 coats

3. Allow to dry
Allow the product to dry for at least 2 hours to fully dry, before applying any topcoat/polishes.

5. How do I prepare the wood before applying the stain?

Ensure the surface is:

• Clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, and old finishes.
• Not wet or treated with white spirit.
• Smoothly sanded for the best finish.
  

6. How do I apply GRAIN GUARD Wood Stain?

Step 1 – Shake Well: Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.

Step 2 – Application: Apply liberally along the grain with a clean, dry brush or spray.

Step 3 – Coat Selection:

• 1 coat – for light shades like Antique Stripped Pine, Light Oak, or Golden Pine.
• 1–2 coats – for medium shades like Dark Pine, Dark Walnut, or Golden Oak.
• 2–3 coats – for rich, dark tones like Black Ebony, English Oak, or Very Red Mahogany.
  
  Step 4 – Drying: Allow to dry for at least 2 hours before applying any topcoat, varnish, or polish.
